A LETTER TO
IN THE NEWS
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
First let me say thank you for the support and trust you have shown me as president of Allegheny County Council. It has been a challenging, yet productive, tenure for me. As leader of the countyís legislative branch of government and as chairman of the Budget & Finance committee, I facilitated budget decisions and negotiated compromises that I felt were in the best interests of the citizens of Allegheny County. Responsible fiscal policy that encourages cost controls and stimulates new business creation was one of my top priorities, and I delivered. I am proud of the fact that I played an active role in keeping county government financaes solvent.
As your next county controller, I pledge to use the audit function of the controllerís office to enforce sound fiscal policy, to keep both the legislative and executive branches of government honest, and to help position the county to better compete for jobs. As issues arise and tough decisions have to be made, I will address them in an objective, fair, and honorable fashion, always listening to what you have to say and looking out for your best interests, not the agendas of government insiders or special interest groups.
Thank you again for your trust and support. With the help of God, I will do my best to live up to your expectations.
With warm regards,
